    CITAZIONE
Dillane, best known to Sky Atlantic viewers as Game of Thrones' Stannis Baratheon, and Birdsong star Poésy will play detectives Karl Roebuck and Elise Wassermann in the crime drama, which is based on Danish / Swedish collaboration The Bridge.

The series, which will be directed by Cesar Award winning filmmaker Dominik Moll, sees Detectives Roebuck and Wassermann sent to investigate on behalf of their respective countries when a prominent French politician is found dead on the border between the UK and France. However, the case takes a surreal turn when a shocking discovery is made at the crime scene, forcing the French and British police into an uneasy partnership. As the serial killer uses ever more elaborate and ingenious methods to highlight the moral bankruptcy of modern society, Karl and Elise are drawn deeper into his increasingly personal agenda.

Joining them are Joseph Mawle, who will play social worker Stephen Beaumont, and Tom Bateman as UK journalist Danny Hillier who unintentionally becomes caught in the serial killer’s web while Ashes To Ashes' Keeley Hawes and the venerable Liz Smith (The Royal Family) will join them from episode two.

Tobi Bakare, Jeanne Balibar, Thibault de Montalembert, Mathieu Carrièrre, Angel Coulby, Jack Lowden will also star.

    CITAZIONE
Were you gripped by the acclaimed Scandinavian thriller The Bridge? Now you have the chance to attend an exclusive BAFTA preview of Sky’s remake of this modern classic. Radio Times readers are being offered the opportunity to win one of 15 pairs of tickets to an invitation-only BAFTA screening of The Tunnel, an Anglo-French remake of the Scandinavian original.

Due to air on Sky Atlantic this Autumn, The Tunnel sees English officer Karl Roebuck (Stephen Dillane) reluctantly join forces with French investigator Elise Wasserman (Clémence Poésy) to investigate the brutal murder of a prominent French politician whose body is found at the border between the two countries. Subtitled like its Scandi sister, The Tunnel is set between Folkestone and Calais and is the first ever bilingual series to be broadcast in the UK.

We have 15 pairs of tickets to be won for the screening , which takes place at BAFTA’s own cinema in London on 17 September 2013.

When this reporter was on the set in the Ramsgate harbour, it was mid May, a scene of episode 5 was being filmed and it featured Special forces cops entering a warehouse to apprehend a man they were following for a few weeks.

As for the main duo: Elise Wasserman is a lone person, punctilious & psychorigid while Karl Roebuck is appreciative of the values of... communism (he was named after Karl Marx), he's more empathic and instinctive than Elise.

Here's the list of directors for the show — two of them are French and three are British. Turns out, Dominik Moll is only directing the first couple of episodes.

Episodes 1.01/1.02 : Dominik Moll (Harry, un ami qui vous veut du bien, Lemming, Le moine).
Episodes 1.03/1.04 : Udayan Prasad (The Yellow Handkerchief, Silent Witness: Intent).
    Episodes 1.05/1.06 : Hettie Macdonald (Doctor Who's Blink (3.10), Sky Atlantic's Hit & Miss).
Episodes 1.07/1.08 : Philip Martin (Prime Suspect: The Final Act, Wallander).
Episodes 1.09/1.10 : Thomas Vincent (Borgia, Canal+ films SAC: Des hommes dans l'ombre & Mister BOB).

There's not much news besides that, other than a production executive assures that the Channel tunnel is a nice metaphor for the show : it's "gloomy and mysterious".

Filming will wrap at the end of the month. It is expected to air in October/November on Canal+ & Sky Atlantic.

    CITAZIONE
“Clemence Poesy, speaking at a Sky drama launch on Tuesday, said the drama played up the culture clash between the French and the English detectives, in a similar way to how The Bridge played up the differences between Denmark and Sweden.
"What comes across is the relationship we have to humour, and to how serious the French way of seeing things can be, which I tend to find a little bit annoying, and how important humour and self deprecation [is to the English]," she said. "There can be a massive gap between those two cultures, [which] can lead to people not really understanding each other."

Poesy, who said she did not watch the original in order to give her interpretation of the character more freedom, also revealed she has been dubbing the English parts of the script into French. But she urged viewers to watch it in the original, half-English, half-French version.

Featherstone promised “plenty of changes” for viewers who watched The Bridge and said it would be “very funny even though it’s a serial killer drama. It has this wonderful character humour throughout.”

"The context of Britain and France is woven through it," she said.

"We have had many people who have watched both who feel they got satisfaction from both. The characters go on different journeys. Our palette is very different, it looks very European. I honestly think you will watch it and be surprised, you won’t even think about the other one, even though the other one is brilliant."”
