Announced today, a new six-part adaptation of the epic War And Peace by Leo Tolstoy for BBC One in 2015, will be made by BBC Cymru Wales Drama. Widely regarded as one of the greatest novels of all time, Andrew Davies scripts will draw all the elements into powerful focus for a modern audience.

Ahahah mi sa che hai ragione, e sono di moda anche i progetti doppione a quanto pare XD il W&P 2007 non è mica tanto lontano... Li perdono perché è BBC, ma ora voglio il cast! . -

Si perchè se infilano un cast come quello della nuova miniserie di anna Karenina piango. E poi la miniserie del 2007 mi è piaciuta troppissimo XD . -

CITAZIONEThough it has been adapted several times before, Leo Tolstoy’s huge tale of drama between aristocratic Russian families is once more the target of a TV project, this time a collaboration between the BBC and The Weinstein Company. Paul Dano and Lily James are mulling offers to star in the miniseries.
Developed by the company behind Ripper Street and scripted by veteran novel adapter Andrew Davies, it will retell the sprawling story that’s set in 1805 Russia and weaves between five rich families around the reign of Alexander I. James is being targeted to play Natasha Rostova, who falls for the wrong man – namely Dano’s Pierre Bezukhov, an awkward illegitimate son who spots a chance to climb society’s ranks but struggles with his hot temper. The actors would be playing roles originally tackled by Audrey Hepburn and Henry Fonda in the 1956 film version, so no pressure there, then.
Once it has assembled the rest of the cast, the miniseries will shoot for an airdate to be decided next year. Dano, meanwhile, will be seen as Brian Wilson in Beach Boys biopic Love & Mercyand Paolo Sorrentino’s The Early Years. James, last seen in Broken and regularly on screen as Lady Mary in Downtown Abby, will be the title character in Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella for Disney.

CITAZIONEWith filming due to begin early in 2015 in Lithuania, Latvia and Russia and a script from the master Andrew Davies, the BBC’s new version of Tolstoy’s War and Peace promises to be truly epic. Casting details have just been announced and the three big roles go to Paul James, Lily James and James Norton. Three rising stars whose stock is going to go even higher, in fact it looks like Norton is going to be omnipresent on our screens for the next year or so with this, Lady Chatterley’s Lover and a second season of Grantchester on the horizon.
Dano will play Pierre Bezukhov, Norton Prince Andrei Bolkonsky and James Natasha Rostova. The cast also includes the fabulous Stephen Rea (An Honourable Woman, The Shadow Line) as Prince Vassily Kuragin, Ade Edmondson (Prey, Blood) and Greta Scacchi (The Falling, Brideshead Revisited) as Count and Countess Rostov; as well as Jack Lowden (The Passing Bells, The Tunnel) as Nikolai Rostov, Tom Burke (The Musketeers, The Hour) as Dolokhov and Aisling Loftus (Mr Selfridge, Good Cop) as Sonya.
Directed by Tom Harper the story will be told over 6 hour long episodes. The last time the BBC attempted the series was in 1972 with Anthony Hopkins in the starring role, that series ran for a mammoth 26 episodes.
Lily James said of her casting “I am very excited and privileged to be playing Natasha. It is amazing to be part of such a prestigious cast and to appear in such a beautiful and rich adaptation by Andrew Davies.”
Whilst Davies said “When I came to War and Peace for the first time, rather late in life, I was struck by how fresh and modern the characters and relationships felt. It’s a story of the hopes and dreams of youth, set against the titanic background of the Napoleonic wars.”
The series is co-production between the BBC, The Weinstein Company and BBC Worldwide-Lookout Films. Faith Penhale, Bethan Jones, Andrew Davies, Harvey Weinstein, Robert Walk and Simon Vaughan are executive producers.

Nooooooo ragazze finalmente un Dolokhov che mi piace , c'è lo vedo tantissimo Burke h gli stessi occhi! Vorrei capire chi è l'attore che fa Nicolai Rostov e chi interpreterà la principessina Maria soprattutto se non mi fanno la ship li prendo a mazzate.
Ohhhh ma lo interpreta l'attore che faceva il figlio del detective ..Ohhhh a me piaceva. Be' se non fosse per la James che mi rovina il Dreams cast sarei felice, è che sinceramente non vedo dove abbia talento a me pare la classica biondina, Natasa è un po difficile da interpretare molto complicato perché sfumato in tanti tratti e il fatto abbiano scelto lei mi fa sorgere il sospetto che sia un po' stilizzato oppure lei è bravissima ed io pregiudizievoli XD. -

Oh forse ha fatto qualcosa in cui spaccava culi e non ce ne siamo mai accorte ma io ho visto solo interpretazioni che non avevano assolutamente niente di speciale! L'unica cosa che riesco a pensare a suo favore è che ha una faccia a cui è difficile attribuire un'età quindi possono spacciarla sia per tredici-quattordicenne che per quasi-vedova che si quasi risposa... Che poi magari è vero che noi abbiamo il pregiudizio, io poi sono molto affezionata alla Natasha di Clémencina (meno a quella di Audrey perché il film lo trovo palloso e pacchiano) e per sostituire Clémencina avrebbero dovuto scegliere un'attrice che mi piace, non una che mi sta sui maroni perché interpreta Rose, scippa il ruolo di Cenerentola ad Holly ed esce con Matt Smith XD .
