Alessandro Farnese (Paolo III)

Alessandro Farnes's situation does not appear to have improved appreciably during the remainder of Alexander VI's reign although he occupied a prominent place in ceremonies. He was deeply mortified by his sister's connection with the pope, which (except for his creation as a cardinal) certainly proved to be more of a disadvantage to him than an asset for many years. Farnese had to make his own way.
